Home Health Care in Cypress, CA
In Cypress, a lot of our first conversations start with an insurance card. One parent has Original Medicare with a supplement. The other switched to a Medicare Advantage plan a few years back and isn’t sure what it covers. Before anyone worries about schedules, families want to know: will this be paid for? Here is what we can tell you, and where to get free, unbiased help in town.
24/7 Care at Home is a Vietnamese family-owned home health agency based in Westminster, a short drive from Cypress. We’ve been serving Orange County since 2007, and our team visits homes all over the city, from the streets around Cypress College to the neighborhoods off Lincoln Avenue and Valley View Street.
Original Medicare
If you have Original Medicare and you qualify for home health, Part A and/or Part B cover the visits, and you pay nothing for those covered services. You do need a doctor or nurse practitioner to see you in person, confirm you need home health, and order it. The agency must be Medicare-certified.
Medicare Advantage
Medicare’s own guidance is short: if you get your benefits through a Medicare Advantage plan or another Medicare health plan, check with the plan about your home health benefits. In practice that can mean prior authorization or a list of in-network agencies. Our intake team can call the plan with you so you aren’t stuck on hold alone.
Supplements and other insurance
If you have a Medigap policy or other health coverage, Medicare asks that you tell your doctor or provider, so bills are paid correctly. Keep both cards handy when we call.
Before care begins
The home health agency should tell you how much Medicare will pay. If something won’t be covered, the agency should tell you out loud and in writing, using a notice called an Advance Beneficiary Notice, before giving you that service or supply. (medicare.gov)
Free Medicare counseling in Cypress
California’s Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) gives free, unbiased Medicare counseling. The Cypress Senior Center on Grindlay Street hosts HICAP appointments on the second Tuesday of each month, according to the City of Cypress. The center also offers a lunch café, transportation, health screenings and free tech help, which can come in handy for setting up a patient portal.
Hospitals near Cypress
Families in Cypress often come home from UCI Health – Los Alamitos, just south of the city, or from La Palma Intercommunity Hospital next door. We mention them only as familiar places. We’re an independent agency.
